Licensing Service for our Vicar

Last Tuesday, 23rd September, the Reverend Anthony Davis was licenced as Priest in Charge (vicar) of St Paul's at a joyful evening service led by the Rt Rev'd Richard Atkinson, Bishop of Bedford and the Venerable Dave Middlebrook, Archdeacon of St Bedford.

Anthony has already been at St Paul's for two years, first as Assistant Curate, then as Curate in Charge and now as Priest in Charge. At the service, Anthony was welcomed by the Lord Lieutenant or Bedfordshire, High Sheriff of Bedfordshire, the MP for Bedford and Kempston, the Mayor of Bedford Borough, as well as the Head of Priory School and representatives of local charities.

In his sermon the Bishop said that "this is a time of opportunity", and encouraged the congregation to "build on what is and become what will be... to realise the possibility and potential ... and to work with Anthony to create a vision and a plan for this place."
