The Choir

Come and join us!

Can you sing, do you love to sing, did you once sing but life somehow got in the way and you would now like to rekindle that interest?

St Paul’s Church is looking for new members of our choir and are inviting you to try us out. You do not need any special qualifications but if you are comfortable reading music, love singing and are prepared to commit to some regular time each month, we would be very happy to hear from you.

St Paul’s has a long and rich musical and choral tradition. The Choir supports our worship during the Parish Eucharist each Sunday at 10.15am and also sings at occasional civic services and special occasions throughout the year.

We want to grow our four- part (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass) choir to ensure we continue offering the tradition of choral music at 10.15  Sunday morning Eucharist services. We also sing in a Choral Evensong once a month, usually on the 3rd Sunday. Commitment to the choir would also include a weekly one-hour rehearsal, currently on a Friday evening between 6pm and 7pm.

The Choir is an important part of the church, not only of our musical tradition but also of our wider ministry. Whilst as a member of the choir you do not necessarily have to be of the Christian faith, it is important to us that you are sympathetic to the overall ministry of the church.

In the first instance, why not try us out,  come along to a Friday rehearsal or a Sunday morning service and speak to our Director of Music, Adam Wright, about how much time you think you could give to singing with us.
