About the event

On Palm Sunday we remember Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. We begin outside the West Door of Church to process around St Paul's Square. The crowds welcoming Jesus 2,000 years ago waved palm branches in joy and so we carry palm leaves in the shape of a cross in our procession.

Palm Sunday also marks the start of Holy Week, the most important time in the Christian year when we remember the momentous events of the Last Supper, the Crucifixion and Resurrection. Our Eucharist includes a dramatised reading of the Passion Gospel, telling of the events of the final hours leading up to the Crucufixion.
