Lunchtime Recital: Archie McVicar, tuba, with Mark Kinkaid, on piano

We are delighted to welcome Archie McVicar, one of the most exciting young tuba players of his generation. Originally from Campbeltown in Scotland, Archie began playing the tuba at the age of seven and developed his musical career while living in five different countries during his childhood. Following studies at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and the Royal College of Music, he has already appeared with leading ensembles including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Archie's programme showcases the remarkable versatility and expressive range of the tuba, featuring Vaughan Williams' much-loved Tuba Concerto alongside works by Handel, Bridge, Boulanger, Shostakovich, Rodney Newton, Goff Richards and Schumann.
