About the event
John returns to St Paul's with a programme that brings together works by James Nares, who began his musical life as a chorister of the Chapel Royal, JS Bach, Mendlssohn and Franck. John brings to life Felix Mendelssohn’s Sonata in B flat major, regarded among the finest contributions to the instrument in the first half of the nineteenth century, as well as César Franck’s Third Choral, Franck's final completed work composed in 1890, regarded as the crowning achievement of César Franck’s organ music and, indeed, of the French Romantic organ tradition.
