About the event
Good Friday Liturgy of the Cross tomorrow commemorates our Lord’s Passion - his death on a cross.
The liturgy is perhaps one of the most ancient in the Christian Calendar. The service consists of readings, prayers (some of which date back to the fourth or fifth century), veneration of the cross (kneeling in front of it to pray), as well as receiving Holy Communion, which was reserved from the Mass of the Lord’s Supper the day before.
As we proclaim the Lord’s death on the Cross we remember that he is with us, in certain knowledge of his resurrection from the tomb on Easter Day.
